Kielder Water Sailing Club has a superb set of RYA trained Instructors to provide Dinghy, Powerboat and First Aid training to members. In addition we have started to develop a Windsurf Instruction team which we hope will pay benefits soon. We also have 6 RYA trained Level 2 Race Coaches to deliver race coaching to our junior squads and adult noive racers.

The team is led by Principal Steve Gibbon who is also an RYA Coach/Assessor and Regional Club Coach as well as club Senior Instructor, Level 2 Race Coach and Powerboat Instructor.

Julie Gibbon is the Chief Dinghy Instructor and our chief course organiser and the first point of contact for most people seeking training.

In addition to Steve, Mike Scott and Paul Turnbull are also Powerboat Instructors.

We are lucky to have a fully qualified RYA First Aid Trainer in Darrell Jackson who delivers superbly interesting, informative and educational courses.

We have a number of Senior Instructors (Dinghy) at the club in Steve Gibbon, Julie Gibbon, Fergus Holland and Rhod Rhodes.

We have a number of Dinghy Instructors: Michelle Russell, Tom Holland, Viola Scott, Phil Taylor and Jack Taylor with several Assistant Instructors working towards full qualification.

Our Level 2 Race Coaching team comprises: Steve Gibbon, Viola Scott, Peter Hawkin, Michael Scott, Fergus Holland and Simon Wilson. They deliver race coaching to out 2 junior Topper Squads and our Junior Optimist squad.

Our Windsurfing Instructor is Brian Coates who is assisted by Ian Fair.

We have 4 RYA qualified Regional Race Officers in Steve Gibbon, Ernie Bennett, Peter Hawkin and Alec Mamwell.

We are always looking for new volunteers to develop and encourage as Coaches and Instructors, so if you are interested please do not hesitate to contact one of the training team.
