Now that the garage at Kielder has closed the nearest garage is now 10 Miles away in Bellingham. Please bear this in mind particularly if you are a visitor and please fill up before you get to the club. Please also note as of April 2008 the garage at Bellingham is only open on Saturday morning on weekends. Thanks.

Kielder Water is located in the heart of Northumberland. Travelling by car to Kielder Water is less strenuous than you might imagine with journey times from Carlisle or Newcastle averaging around an hour.

Location of K.W.S.C.

From east (Newcastle) or west (Carlisle), leave the A69 turning northwards onto the A6079 to Chollerford, then follow the B6320 to Bellingham and the C200 to Kielder. Follow the tourist signs for Kielder Water and Forest. From north (Edinburgh, Jedburgh) or south (Darlington), travelling on the A68, take the B6320 and follow the tourist signs for Kielder Water and Forest.

The sailing club is situated 1/2 mile from the dam in a purpose built log cabin near the Tower Knowe information centre. Kielder Water itself is well signposted from most major roads in Northumberland. The A68 passes north of the lake, but it is still easy to find when driving north on this road. Club members will also be happy to disclose the "less obvious" routes that people favour travelling to the lake. For a general guide to the location of Kielder Water an Ordinance Survey map can be found here with an arrow pointing to the rough location of the sailing club. We have a list of local accomodation sites here on our site.

The clubhouse is located near to the water behind Kielder Water Visitors Centre at Tower Knowe. As you turn into the Visitors Centre car park the sailing club is signposted and a fork to the right of the car park will take you down to the clubhouse.
